But they are still not opening up fully.
After revealing the first details and gameplay footage of Halo 4 earlier this week, 343i have taken the most popular questions from their Halo Waypoint forums and provided some answers. Some.
Most of their answers were either vague or the standard “we aren’t ready to reveal that yet”, but they did provide a few new details for us to chew on for a bit.
They confirmed that there will NOT be a beta for Halo 4, stating “While we are testing Halo 4 code, gameplay, and systems at significant scale to get excellent data, input, and feedback, we are focused on polishing and shipping our experience for the duration of the year, and splitting resources to manage and build a beta is not on our schedule”. Well that sucks.
Slayer games will not be scored 0-50 like previous Halo games, but they did not reveal what the scoring will be.
The covenant will be in the game, but will not be the main enemy. “Yes. The Covenant will definitely return, albeit in a completely (graphically, politically and sonically) overhauled form, but they may be the least of your problems.”
The mech pictured in the screenshot above in the multiplayer map Warhouse is called the Cyclops 2 and will not be playable, but they did confirm there will be some new vehicles, and at least one is much larger than the Cyclops 2.
Assassinations are back, but have been altered. No other details provided.
When asked about any Halo 3 multiplayer map remakes, they stated that the majority of the multiplayer maps are new, but did not rule out any remakes from any previous Halo game. I’d like to see Guardian or The Pit make the cut.
You can read the entire Q & A post here on Halo Waypoint, but most of the other answers are too vague to bother trying to read into them. I’ll take what I can get at this point.
