Back, Bond is back.
Today, Activision announced that Eurocom (Goldeneye 007 Reloaded) are developing a new James Bond game to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the franchise, with 007 Legends set to release this fall.
007 Legends features its own orignal storyline, but ties together six classic Bond films, ending with the upcoming film Skyfall. They haven’t revealed any other details, including which six films it ties together, but they did state it would feature new gadgets and weapons and bring back the MI6 Ops missions and the online multiplayer that was featured in Goldeneye 077 Reloaded last fall.
“To honor 50 years of the world’s top secret agent, 007 Legends offers a collection of his most famed moments in the smartest and most treacherous Bond game yet,” said David Oxford, Executive Vice President at Activision Publishing, Inc. “Creating a video game storyline that ties together six popular, yet very different, Bond movie narratives can be challenging, but together with EON Productions, our developer Eurocom, has pulled it off to create an homage that we think will be a unique and highly entertaining Bond video game.”
The one detail I was hoping to hear was nowhere to be found, and that was whether or not at least the MI6 Ops missions would include co-op, which was the only thing missing from them in 007 Reloaded. Hopefully Eurocom make the smart decision and include some form of co-op and in my opinion the MI6 Ops missions are the perfect place to do it.
