Rumor: Halo 4 Multiplayer Details Leaked

Posted by Peter Carpenter | 07 Apr 2012 |

You can’t keep secrets from the Internet, or can you?

According to a thread on the Halo Waypoint forums, new details about the multiplayer in Halo 4 have been leaked. Supposedly, someone got their hands on the upcoming issue of Game Informer which is set to reveal new info on the game in their May issue.

Halo 4 Multiplayer Details Leaked.

We’re leaving these as rumors until the details from the magazine are officially released, but you can read a summary of them below.

  • Spartan Points – These will be the new currency in the game, used to buy new armor, armor abilities and Spartan Ops Missions.

  • Spartan Ops – These are new co-operative missions that have been compared to Spec-Ops in Call of Duty, but will be connected to a long running story line, which will be released every few months to keep players coming back to continue the story.

  • Sprint – Will now be a default ability that you always have, on top of being able to pick another ability.

  • Returning Abilities – The hologram, jetpack and active camo are set to return, no word on Armor Lock yet.

  • Forerunner Vision – This new ability will let you see through walls using X-Ray vision, to help spot hiding opponents.

  • No Elites in Multiplayer – Elites are gone from the multiplayer and the focus is now on the new Spartan IV’s.

  • Firefight Not Included – The article supposedly reveals that firefight will not be included in Halo 4.

  • Random Weapon Drops – No longer will you be able to wait for a weapon to respawn in the same location, as random weapon pods will drop on the map, in new locations each time.

  • No More Respawn Delay – When you die in multiplayer, you will be able to instantly press X to respawn.

  • Join A Game In-Progress – You’ll be able to join a game in-progress instead of waiting for it to finish.

We’re waiting for the new Game Informer to drop (April 10th for the digital version) before we get too excited, or bummed (we’ll miss you Firefight) in some cases, about these new features. What do you think about them if they end up being true? Let us know in the comments.

If armor lock is in it I won’t be playing it.

        Kool beanz:) no one cares

Oh cool, halo caters to the CoD kids more and more. Random weapon drops? No skill involved there. Halo reach already ruined halo by letting kids spawn with armor and invisible powerups that respawn. Come on

I don’t quite understand what the big deal is, I for one found firefight to get really stale and boring, and even if you add new things it’s just another survival mode.  I will gladly accept an extended and even completely different campaign.

I can understand placing fun and well thought out aspects of a previous game into your game but seriously, spartan ops. Halo 4 will likely have a 4 person campaign and while Spartan
Ops might serve as a decent addition to the campaign, it should not be used as a substitute of firefight. After all firefight is unique to Halo and contains a number of unexplored possibilities, such as the inclusion of the flood. I’m not saying that Spartan Ops is a bad idea, I just don’t think that it should come at the expense of Firefight, which still has a large amount of potential
