Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition Multiplayer Overview

Posted by Scott Grant | 04 May 2012 |

Build together, work together, play together.

On May 9th, Xbox 360 owners will finally get a chance to play the PC sensation, sandbox crafting game Minecraft. If some of you were wondering how the co-op/multiplayer would work, we have just the video for you.

While Microsoft did release an official trailer, I would rather you watch the extended version with cheeky British commentary from the guys at Hatventures so that’s the video you’ll see below.

Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition will allow eight player online co-op, with up to four players on each Xbox 360. That’s a lot of split-screen folks. The world you enter will be that of whoever is hosting and everything looks to be running quite smoothly. Have a look for yourself:

Online multiplayer Minecraft on PC is too damn complicated!

You have to plug up an HDMI cable from your Xbox to an HD television, and set it to 720p. Then someone just presses “start” on another controller and wah-la!

how can you play multiplayer on the Xbox 360 offline.

All you have to do is have the other players press start on their controller and then it will prompt them to press start again to join. You have to be playing on a TV that is at least 720p for split-screen to work, so we are told.

        it doesn’t work though

it came out today and we can not get split screens to work at all.

When you are building a world, the other player just has to Press Start on their controller to get prompted to join, and then press start again to join.

You have to have an HDMI cable..

I tested with the component cables and they work fine with 4 player split-screen, so it’s not HDMI specific. Someone else wrote that it has to be 720p or higher though. That’s the only other thing I can find.
