A fresh face on a familiar idea.
SideQuest Studio’s upcoming strategy RPG is just exciting to look at, if you ask me. It borrows visual style, among other things, from the JRPG’s of my youth but instead of featuring the graphics of the 90′s, Rainbow Moon is decidedly modern.
Rainbow Moon will look and feel familiar to anyone who played PSOne or SNES era RPGs and will feature a turn based, strategic battle system. It isn’t all retro though, Rainbow Moon will feature a number of modern ideas such as an open world, fast travel and dynamically updated shop inventories.
SideQuest Studios are boasting 30+ hours of gameplay with tons of, you guessed it, side quests and optional dungeons available. They are also teasing end-game content, but keeping quiet on exactly what this will entail. I guess we’ll just have to finish the game to find out. Rainbow Moon is scheduled for release in 2012, but we don’t have a concrete date yet. Check out the trailer below:
