E3 2012: Halo 4 War Games Multiplayer Shows Some New Tricks

Posted by Scott Grant | 06 Jun 2012 |

Warthogs! I remember those.

343 Industries were out in force at E3 2012, to show us a number of different things about one of our most anticipated games of 2012, Halo 4. One of the most important parts of every Halo game is the competitive multiplayer and we got to take a look at a few of the new elements.

Halo 4 War Games Multiplayer Ghost

The first thing we noticed was the return of a couple of classic vehicles, the Ghost and the Warthog. We truly hope that their prominence in this demo marks the return of vehicles to the Team Slayer playlists as they were completely absent in Halo: Reach, yet remain one of the defining features of the series.

343 have made some updates to the assassination system to allow for a wider variety of moves when you perform these most humiliating of kills. Have you ever wished you could tackle an opponent to the ground and finish them off with your knife? Granted.

Ordnance drops are also new to the series and offer you the chance to call in a weapon pod upon achieving a kill streak. Halo isn’t going with a full suite of kill streak rewards, a la Call of Duty, just a simple bonus for a job well done. These new elements, along with new armor abilities, customizable loadouts and new game types are definitely going to make for a different Halo experience and I think it’s going to be a good one.
