Will your favorite fighter make the cut?
Earlier this month at the UFC Fan Expo in Las Vegas, the EA Sports Team were on hand to capture some of the fighters for their upcoming EA UFC game, and while most of the fighters weren’t surprising, there were a few interesting faces in the crowd.
The photos released show fighters such as Benson Henderson, Carlos Condit, Junior Dos Santos, Chuck Liddell, Clay Guida, BJ Penn, Frank Mir, Johny Hendricks, Jung Chan-Sung (Korean Zombie), Alan Belcher, Jon Fitch, Phil Davis, Roy Nelson, Wanderlei Silva, Donald Cerrone, Matt Serra, Jake Shields and Cain Velasquez to name a few. Then there are a few surprises such as Daniel Cormier and Gilbert Melendez, who are currently reigning champions under the Zuffa owned Strikeforce promotion. It’s interesting because it either means that Strikeforce will be part of the EA UFC game, or these fighters are moving over to the UFC sooner than announced and they are preparing for this in the game.
Having Strikeforce in the game does make sense, since it is now owned by Zuffa (the UFC parent company) and was featured in the EA MMA game from 2010, but as an MMA fan outside of the video games as well, I would rather see them fighting in real life in the UFC opposed to Strikeforce. Only time will tell. For now, you can check out some of the photos from their capture sessions below.
