Tank beats everything.
With the upcoming Armored Kill DLC EA are introducing a new game mode to Battlefield 3 called Tank Superiority. Taking advantage of this tank, and vehicle focused DLC Pack, Tank Superiority aims to create an authentic tank on tank experience.
Tank Superiority will be available on all four Armored Kill maps and plays like a king-of-the hill type mode, or like Conquest but with only one capture point. The capture point will have a fairly tight capture radius so teamwork is key. In Tank Superiority the vehicle respawn time has been drastically reduced, to almost instantly, so if you spawn and there are no tanks, just wait a few seconds.
Key to the whole experience will be the new Tank Destroyer vehicles, a lightly armored tank that is far more agile than a battle tank but has the same firepower capabilities.
“With Tank Superiority I wanted to push tank-based gameplay to the extreme. This means there are a lot of new ideas to adapt to in this game mode. Tanks are the stars of the game mode, of course, but we also allow for some crucial infantry gameplay as well.” Explains Lead Designer, Gustav Halling, creator of the Tank superiority mode.
“Usually, infantry will be Engineers or Recon, to either repair or destroy the vehicles with Repair Tools, Javelins, and SOFLAMs. Some of the maps are extremely open, like Bandar Desert. You would hardly ever approach the flag on those maps as infantry if you don’t have a death wish. On one or two maps, the capture point is somewhat obscured by terrain and allows for a higher degree of infantry combat.”
Battlefield 3 Armored Kill is scheduled for a September release and will be available first to Premium members.
