Skyrim Dawnguard DLC May Not Come to PS3

Posted by Scott Grant | 31 Aug 2012 |

But work continues.

The bad news continues for Skyrim fans who happen to be playing the game on their Playstation 3. While the game’s first DLC, Dawnguard, has been heavily delayed in its PS3 release, Bethesda have announced today that they may not be able to work out the issues they are having trying to get it to run smoothly on the PS3.

Skyrim Dawnguard DLC May Not Come to PS3
Bethesda released the following, via their forums, today:

Earlier in the month, we provided an update on Dawnguard’s status for PS3.

It’s been a few weeks, and we wanted to make sure everyone knows where we’re at with Dawnguard. Skyrim is a massive and dynamic game that requires a lot of resources, and things get much more complex when you’re talking about sizable content like Dawnguard. We have tried a number of things, but none of them solve the issue enough to make Dawnguard good for everyone. The PS3 is a powerful system, and we’re working hard to deliver the content you guys want. Dawnguard is obviously not the only DLC we’ve been working on either, so the issues of adding content get even more complicated. This is not a problem we’re positive we can solve, but we are working together with Sony to try to bring you this content.

We wish we had a more definitive answer right now. We understand the frustration when the same content is not available on all platforms. When we have an update, we will certainly let you know. We deeply appreciate all the time and support you have given us, and we’ll keep doing our best to return that.

I really hope they can work out whatever it is that’s holding this DLC up, we had a great time playing Dawnguard on the Xbox 360 and it’s a shame that PS3 owners haven’t had a chance to experience it yet.

The whole situation is just shameful. And trying to pass some blame onto Sony is just too much.

You’re pathetic if you’re too ignorant to realize that Sony hasn’t even made an effort to say it’s NOT their fault.

PS3 user’s have been dealing with more bugs and issues with the game than other platforms because of the awkwardness of the hardware and OS. Kick up the fact that this is problem the most complex game either console has had, it’s impressive to see the game even handle this well to begin with.

The game is massive and incredibly enjoyable regardless of additional DLC. You’re just like all the crybaby lemmings who want to jump on the bandwagon of hate.

If it comes out, awesome. We’re fairly certain Beth will make up for it in some form of discount or bundle deal available to us PS3 owners. If it can’t be released, at least I can comfortably say I completely enjoyed the game without the DLC, and was worth every penny spent on the core game overall, and would totally buy it again for another platform to experience the DLC.

Haters gonna hate. Lucky for everyone else to is reasonable and competent, you trolls are the minority.

Hehe nice try there. But Bethesda is at fault here. You can bluster and name-call all you want, but it wont change anything really.
