Rage The Scorchers DLC Review

Posted by Scott Grant | 19 Dec 2012 |

Fire it up.

Do you remember Rage? I do. If you don’t, Rage is a fantastic, post-apocalyptic, shooter that came out last October. I’m not talking about two months ago, this game was released over a year ago and we’re just getting our first DLC adventure for it now. That is a strange strategy, but I always love to have a good reason to dig an old favorite out of the stack and give it another spin. If you’re ready to head back to the Wasteland, it’s time to heat things up with The Scorchers.

Rage The Scorchers DLC

Hello there, miss.

What you Get

The Scorchers DLC opens up a new series of missions that start in the Northern Wasteland, inside Hagar Territory, where you headed first in the original game. Don’t worry, if you’ve already finished the main story in Rage, this DLC also brings in a new feature that allows you to continue to explore the Wasteland after you’ve completed the main campaign.

When you load up your game you’ll be given a mission that asks you to investigate a new gang of bandits called The Scorchers. As you investigate this new threat you’ll meet up with new allies, gain access to new weapons and visit new locations. The great thing about The Scorchers is that the missions integrate into the main game, and the new areas all branch off existing areas in the game. You’ll still be able to visit the same shops, and talk to the same people, in between each part of the Scorchers mission.

Rage The Scorchers DLC

Uh, gross.

This isn’t the longest DLC mission I’ve ever played, clocking in at around two and a half hours, but for $5 The Scorchers DLC has more of what made Rage great in the first place. It all caps off with the biggest boss fight yet, and you just might find yourself burned.

The Verdict

It may have been in the oven for a little longer than we expected, but I enjoyed The Scorchers and for $5 I think you will to. This DLC will add a fun new adventure and, whether you’ve already finished the game, or are thinking about picking it up now, you should go grab The Scorchers.
