Anomaly 2 Announced By 11 Bit Studios

Time to die, Alien scum.

11 Bit Studios revealed today that the secret project that they’ve been working on is Anomaly 2, a sequel to their hit Strategy/Tower Offense game Anomaly: Warzone Earth.

“In the years following the invasion of Earth in 2018, the planet is overrun by alien machines. Humankind is on the verge of extinction. Banded together in huge convoys, they search the frozen tundra for food and supplies. Since the war, the roles have been reversed: now our species seems to be the Anomaly on a machine-controlled planet. Your convoy, Commander, is called Yukon.”

Set to release on PC, Mac and Linux later this year, Anomaly 2 will feature an all new, deeper single player campaign, but it also introduces Tower Offense vs Tower Defense multiplayer to the series as well. I enjoyed the original game, and the idea of multiplayer is interesting, but I was hoping to hear more about co-op to be honest. The original game didn’t feature any co-op and I wasn’t sure how it would work if they ever did decide to include it, and then the PSN version shipped with two player local co-op so I was expecting to hear something about co-op and the sequel. I guess we’ll have to keep waiting for that one.

For now, check out the debut trailer for Anomaly 2.
