Help it survive the vote.
I don’t spend a lot of time poking around the Steam Greenlight queue, but I was looking through the recent submissions today and one of them instantly caught my attention and now I can’t stop watching its trailer. That game is The Forest.
The Forest is an upcoming Open-World, Survival Horror game by SKS Games that looks and sounds like a mix of Lost and Minecraft. You play as the lone survivor of a plane that has crashed on a mysterious island, which you now have to survive on using whatever resources you can find. You can cut down trees to build a shelter and keep your fire going, find and plant seeds to grow food, scour the island and its underground caves to find other resources that you can use to build weapons, tools, traps and other defenses to protect you from a society of cannibalistic mutants that are said to “have beliefs, families, morals and that appear almost human.”
Developed using the Unity Engine, The Forest will also feature a dynamic environment with day and night cycles, changing weather patterns and tides that roll in and out. Its forest will live and die around you as you make your new home and it sounds both ambitious and exciting. I have a thing for any form of entertainment that revolves around the idea of being stranded and having to survive, so I was drawn to The Forest the moment I saw the first sentence in its description, and even more so after watching its first trailer.
The Forest is a PC exclusive (with Oculus Rift support) and it’s going through the approval process on Steam Greenlight right now, so you should watch the trailer above and then go vote YES here.
