Cheers to the modding community, once again.
If you’ve ever tried to play Dark Souls co-op with friends you actually know, you know it can be a frustrating experience trying to get their summon sign to show up in your world. Your problems can now be solved, so long as you’re playing the Prepare to Die Edition on the PC.
The DSCFix Mod has been designed to poll your friends list for available summon signs, and ensure they are displayed in your world first. We have tested it here and can confirm it works like a charm. We were able to drop a summon sign and have it show up in a friend’s world multiple times.
To install the DSCFix Mod follow these steps:
1. First download the DSFix Mod, available here. You may remember this as the mod that allows you to adjust the internal resolution of Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition and it will serve as a base for the DSCFix Mod.
2. Install DSFix by copying the contents of the Zip file into your install directory. This will usually be c:/program files(x86)/steam/steamapps/common/Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition/DATA.
3. Download the DSCFix Mod, available here, and copy the files to the same directory as above.
4. Open the DSFix.ini file and look for the following line: dinput8dllWrapper none and change it to: dinput8dllWrapper dscfix.dll. Save the file and you’re done.
For this to work, both players will have to have the DSCFix Mod installed. This mod also does not change the rules of summoning, so normal level, progress, and human/hollow restrictions will still apply.
