E3 2013: Dark Souls 2 Shows Off Its New Engine

Posted by Scott Grant | 10 Jun 2013 |

Go beyond death.

From Software have big plans for Dark Souls 2 and today we got a glimpse of some of these in the form of some new gameplay video at E3 2013. It’s time to go beyond Death.

Dark Souls 2 E3

Dark Souls 2 will feature an all new engine that will run at a full 60 frames per second on next-gen consoles. While the original struggled at times, From are showing off how that won’t be an issue in their upcoming sequel thanks in part to a new engine. This new engine will allow for greater detail in the environments of Dark Souls 2 and you can see the evidence in this new video.

Dark Souls 2 will also feature an overhauled combat system to allow for a more smooth experience, along with updates to sound, lighting FX, and graphic fidelity. I am a huge fan of the original Dark Souls but it was definitely a little twitchy at times so it’s good to see some advances are being made in the combat system and not just in the visual department.
