Our favorite map returns. Finally.
From the second that Halo Reach was released, we have been asking for a remake of our favorite Halo 3 map, The Pit. Reach didn’t deliver, and neither did Halo 4… until now.
Today, during the 343 Industries panel at RTX (Rooster Teeth Expo), the Champions Bundle DLC was announced. The format of the DLC is a little strange, as it can be purchased all at once, or in pieces and is not part of the Season Pass.
The Champions Bundle will cost 800 MS Points ($9.99) and will include the Bullseye Map Pack, which includes Pitfall (a remake of The Pit from Halo 4) and an all new map called Vertigo. It will also include the Infinity Armor Pack, which offers the Mark V, ODST, and Prefect armors. Finally, the Champions Bundle will include a new game mode called Ricochet which was designed specifically for Pitfall and is described by 343 as being “like combat basketball.” Ricochet places a ball on the map and tasks players with either throwing or running the ball into the goal. Running the ball in will gain you more points than throwing it in, and the ball can be intercepted mid-air.
Along with all of this new content are a number of new weapon skins, but honestly, they had us at The Pit. Pitfall will stay true to The Pit by still offering a race to the rockets, and many of the same features with the only major change coming down by the Sword Room. The addition of an escape hatch in the room itself, and an expanded lower hallway complete with a Gravlift.
The Champions Bundle has a release date of August 20th, 2013, so we’ll see you back on the UNSC Infinity then! Check out the trailer below:
