Minecraft Coming To PS3, PS4 and PS Vita

In between all of the new game announcements, trailers and the PS4 release date announcement, Sony took a brief moment to let us know that Minecraft is coming to the PS3, PS4 and PS Vita, later this year. Yes, Sony loyalists will finally be able to get in on the block-building madness that is known as Minecraft.

They didn’t reveal any other details about the game, including when it would be released or how much it would cost, but this is big news for Sony and more importantly, owners of a Playstation console. Minecraft has long been a PC and Xbox 360 exclusive, so this is a huge boost for Sony as they move into the next-generation. We’ll have more details about the Playstation version of Minecraft as they are released. Stay tuned!

Update: Well, that didn’t take long. Sony just updated that Minecraft will be available when the PS4 launches on November 15th, 2013.

Update: In other great, additional platform news, indie platformer, Fez will also be coming to the PS3, PS4, and PS Vita with Polytron saying: “Development for these platforms is handled by Blit Software, a studio from Barcelona who is pretty much doing magic with the game. You may remember them as the guys who are making the Spelunky PS3 and PS Vita versions happen too, which we’re also much looking forward to! We’re working with them to provide a smooth, pixel-perfect version of Fez, with every bit of content to explore that the game is known for.

For those who may not know, Fez is a 2D platformer set in a 3D world. You play as Gomez, a charismatic and fluffy little white guy who wears a Fez. When the existence of a mysterious 3rd dimension is revealed to him, Gomez is sent out on a journey that takes him to the very end of time and space.

There are no enemies in Fez. No bosses, no combat; in fact, no conflict of any kind. It aims to create a non-threatening world rich with ambiance, a pleasant place to spend time in. And of course, with plenty of treasures to find and secrets to uncover.” So, despite creator Phil Fish’s abrupt exit from the industry earlier this summer, Playstation fans will be able to get their hands on Fez.

That is some sweet news right there. ….now if Sony could bring Super Meat Boy to PS4 that wold be awesome. They gotta give them some serious incentive though, cause Team Meat isn’t too keen on the idea. :/
