Go Deep Down at TGS 2013.
If you’re not that into Killzone you may have been having a tough time trying to find an exclusive title to be excited for on the Playstation 4. Today I found that game and it’s called Deep Down.
We were given the briefest glimpse of Deep Down at the PS4 Reveal Conference but we weren’t told much about it at that time. However, Capcom have been showing it off at the Tokyo Game Show this week and what I’ve seen has me more than a little excited for this game.
Deep Down will be set in New York City in the year 2094 and, I know, that contrasts heavily with most of the screenshots and gameplay footage we have seen. We know that players control a medieval warrior type character and will be fighting dragons in a world that reminds me a lot of Dark Souls, but what we don’t know yet is just how all of this will be tied into the future. The more important fact, if you ask me, is that the game will offer co-op play for at least four players and the levels will be randomly generated and filled with random monsters and loot. Seriously, Capcom, you had me at co-op, but you really got my attention with randomly generated levels.
Deep Down will be a Playstation 4 exclusive (for now at least, though I wouldn’t be too surprised if that changed) and will be released sometime in 2014. Check out the Deep Down TGS 2013 trailer below:
Update: According to Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios president, Shuhei Yoshida (via Twitter), Capcom are planning to launch Deep Down as a Free to Play title, and are expecting to do a public beta near the Japanese launch of the Playstation 4, in February 2014. While hearing that a game is going to be F2P seriously dampens my enthusiasm, I’m hoping Capcom keeps the F2P elements sensible.
