Screw the PS4, the Xbox One will help you lose weight!
After it was leaked yesterday, Microsoft officially announced their new Xbox Fitness service for the Xbox One today. The new service will be available for all Xbox Live Gold members until December 2014, when a new, separate subscription will need to be purchased.
Xbox Fitness will give you access to a variety of fitness videos, from brands like P90X and INSANITY, and more from trainers such as Tracy Anderson and Jillian Michaels. It will utilize Kinect 2.0 to track your movements, heart rate and performance throughout each video and then provide you with detailed feedback to help you improve during future workouts.
Xbox Fitness will also include challenges during each workout to help motivate you, and compare your scores to your friends and the rest of the Xbox Fitness community. It has no appeal to me whatsoever, but it sounds like it could be a pretty good system for those who enjoy working out with their video game console.
It’ll be interesting to see how many people start paying for a separate subscription after it’s not included in their Xbox Live membership anymore. I guess it will depend on the price, which Microsoft isn’t ready to reveal.
I guess it’s time to stop eating and drinking all of those Doritos and Mountain Dew that Microsoft keeps telling us about.
